Kate Ash on Fire

Home win for the Under 13 Girls v St Ita’s

A windy and wet day at Damastown did not dampen the delight and belief of the Under 13 Clonee United girls’ team ably steered by the fabulous and fun Julie O’Toole. Despite a recent injury to Jaime Thompson the team spirit of these girls shone through where the sun did not.
A great competitive game all the way even for throw ins! The game started well for Clonee United with goals from one of the new stars who joined the team this season Abby Meade and the team captain Aisling Desmond who had a fantastic run from her own half jinxed in and out and rifled a shot into the net leaving it rippling for minutes afterwards.
Rebecca Mooney then added to the joy by grabbing herself a goal. Rachel McCann was unlucky not to score she just had one of those days that happen. The defence and Sophie In goal played their part as they again kept a clean sheet and allowed a firm base to produce the result.
Then as Maurice Smith stated or sang to the Will Crigg classic from the Euros “Kate Ash was on fire” again as she then decided to bag not one but two goals Bottom left and right to make the score seem like a landslide? A little unkind on St Ita’s but on a day when the weather let us down the girls of Clonee United lifted up our spirits with a beautiful display of what this great game can do to a weekend
