Clonee United Smash 8 Away as Mala Hide
It was another great performance from the Under 15 Clonee United team this weekend as they again managed to win this time away from home at Malahide Castle. It was a tight game for the opening 20 minutes as both sides probed each other, then Emeka Ejike was brought down in the area – the referee gave it and signalled to the spot.
Danny Ash the regular penalty taker stepped up – leaving the nerves behind and then slotted into the bottom right corner for one nil to Clonee United. The whiff of blood was in the air and Clonee Pressed and struck again a few minutes later through the excellent Adam Maher. This seemed to rock Malahide as they wobbled and Fionn O’Moore decided to carry the ball from defence to the opposition goal mouth and then promptly nut-megged the helpless goalkeeper. The defender making his debut for the team this season then helped him-self to another goal as the half time score nestled at four nil to the away team.
The second half started and Clonee relaxed a little too much as Malahide kept their heads up and pressed and grabbed a couple back. However, as they say when you make a sleeping predator it can go one way or the other. In this case it roused Clonee United to start playing again and Adam Maher also helped himself to a Brace of goals before Giedris Vassilikas, Emeka Ejike and Lorcan Hoey decided to also chip in with a goal each to make it a great eight from Clonee United. Overall a good performance from a team that is starting to believe in itself and play for each other – this was typified by the forward runs and unselfish play of Adam Strastian.
A very solid start to the season let’s keep it going lads.
