Whitehall whitewash at the Home Farm

Under 13 N Home Farm 2 – 7 Clonee United

A lovely Saturday morning and the two great teams of Home Farm and Clonee United met at the lovely Whitehall grounds. The weather was holding up and no snow was forecast. So all good.
Another great game as always between these two competitive teams.
It would appear though that the Navy blue of Clonee United MGL would win out. Football is “a funny old game “ as Mr Clough once said.
Last week Rachel McCann could not buy a goal but this week she was on fire – we hope she did the Lotto. She managed to grab Five well taken goals in this game. She terrorised the Home farm defence and nearly everything she did ended up with a ball in the back of the net.
More pleasing though was the whole team work ethic that was shown – typified by the captain Aisling Desmond who had a great game and was dominant in midfield and down the right hand side of the pitch.
On the left Kate Ash was also able to link in well with Rachel McCann and Sophie Rey. Kate grabbed another goal and Sophie Rey was also on the score sheet as Clonee were able to win the game 7 – 2 away from home and enjoy the weekend. The defence was solid and Emily Smyth and Grainne Cantwell were solid as usual.
The rest of the squad also played their parts with aplomb doing and showing what they do in training each week when they stepped out on to the pitch.
The team can be delighted with a very good shift this weekend
